Now you see all the best choices available to design and build your site. Still can't choose? Still confused? Let's narrow it down even more. If you are a beginner, don't choose Photoshop,& Illustrator unless you are independently wealthy, unemployed or enjoy manuals as light reading. Save those programs for when you can appreciate their power. Learn HTML; start with a simple editor like CoffeeCup and do some tutorials. To really be able to use all the features of a program like Dreamweaver, you have to be able to manipulate the HTML & Javascript at the very least. When you've discovered how to make a basic web page, then try to make graphics for it using Adobe LiveMotion (not the animation part) & Xara X. If you've already built a few sites or have done a lot of surfing and are very confident of your abilities, then maybe it's time to take a step up. Homesite, 1stPage 2000 & Paint Shop Pro are slightly more complicated choices. If you are on your way to being professional or a serious amateur and want to upgrade your tools you have Dreamweaver/Freehand/ Fireworks/Flash vs. Golive/Illustrator/Photoshop /LiveMotion- equally great programs; you'll probably like whichever you try out first! Now, if you are really interested in making every line of your own graphics, start with a drawing program like CorelDraw, Freehand, Illustrator, or Xara X, then manipulate & optimize your masterpieces in an image editing/painting program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. If you're adventuresome go with the all-in-one-program; Canvas 7. If you are not looking at all this as an obsession (just wait) or a profession and you just need to get your business website up fast, try NetObjects Fusion or FrontPage 2000 with Microsoft PhotoDraw. |
